Thursday 19th April - a day of grey

First full day in London, and it rains. And it rained until the day we left. We weren't convinced the weather was going to be favourable for the next two days so we thought we better go on the London Eye this morning just in case it got worse. It did. The first half of the ride was Ok, but it was very hard to see very far. We did get a really good view of Parliament Hose and the Big Ben Tower. Westminster Abbey was a little harder to differentiate in the rain, and we needed a zoom on the camera to see Buckingham Palace. Couldn't see The Queen in any of the windows.

Parliament House

Big Ben tower, Big Ben is the bell inside.

Westminster Abbey was absolutely stunning inside. We got an audio guide which told us about the history and features.

Just down the road we saw this. There are parts of London I just love, tradition is one of them.

We ate ate at an Italian restaurant at the train station just below where the Olympic rings are. It was 100 days until the Olympics begin and London is getting ready for them!

We had tickets to the musical 'Sweeney Todd' for Thursday night. Having seen the movie, I found it easy to follow the storyline, but was definitely missing Johnny Depp's presence. Sometimes i just don't get musicals. I thoroughly enjoyed it though. It's a shame we didn't have time for another musical. I'm sure I could have followed the storyline to the Lion King too, which was recommended by numerous people.

Another late night, but boy are we having fun! And the shorter posts are an indication of how busy we've been.
